Wan-Bissaka Turns Defender, Manchester United Settle for Disappointing Draw with Liverpool
At Old Trafford, Manchester United and Liverpool shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the 32nd round of the Premier League.
On their home turf at Old Trafford, Manchester United allowed Liverpool to hold them to a 2-2 draw. The first half saw the Red Devils completely outplayed by the visitors. While Liverpool unleashed a total of 15 shots, United struggled to create opportunities of their own.
In the 23rd minute, Luis Diaz opened the scoring for the visitors. From a headed pass by Darwin Nunez, Diaz fired a shot from inside the box past Onana.
Heading into the second half, Manchester United showed determination to turn the tide. They scored two quick goals, including a stunning strike by young talent Kobbie Mainoo.
Just when United fans started to believe in victory, their defense disappointed. In the 82nd minute, Wan-Bissaka committed a foul inside the box, leading to an immediate penalty awarded by the referee. From the penalty spot, Salah converted to secure a 2-2 draw for Liverpool.
With this result, Liverpool officially relinquished the top spot after the 32nd round. Meanwhile, Manchester United sits in 6th place and is increasingly falling behind in the race for Champions League qualification.
