In anticipation of perhaps losing out on Kim Min-jae, Manchester United is keeping an eye on Axel Disasi.
In preparation for losing out on Kim Min-jae, Manchester United is keeping tabs on Monaco defender Axel Disasi, according to Mirror transfer live.
Min-jae, a center back for Napoli, had long been a target for United, but it appears that Bayern Munich has intervened and assumed control of the negotiations to secure the South Korean international.
Disasi, who was once a Red Devils target, is currently being watched. He is a center back by preference but can also play as a right back. He is a right-footed defender.
The French international is a reliable player with excellent aerial skills, outstanding game reading, the ability to pass out of the back, and a liking of one or two tackles.
If both players are healthy, United’s first-choice center-back partnership is Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. But without that, not much else exists. Luke Shaw’s ability to contribute as a left back, which is his preferred position, is hampered by the fact that Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are not good enough.
Therefore, just as it made sense to try to get Min-jae, bringing in Disasi during this transfer window would improve the defensive strength of the team.
If the performances go well, the 25-year-old may be a first-choice candidate or play the backup role. Erik ten Hag has demonstrated throughout his first season in charge that he is not averse to benching star players if they are underwhelming. Therefore, there is always a risk that the backup players will be called upon.
Let’s hope United is able to close the Disasi transaction first. Missing out on Min-jae after coming close would start to raise doubts in the supporters’ minds in light of previous transfer failures.
