Cristiano Ronaldo continues to prove his class in the Al Nassr shirt, but the Portuguese superstar affirms that he no longer places emphasis on individual titles, but only aims for the overall victory of the team.
In the match against Al Fayha in the Saudi Pro League on November 1, Ronaldo scored a double to help Al Nassr win 2-1. These two goals helped him increase his total number of goals this season to 8, continuing to lead the scoring list. However, when asked about his feelings after the match, Ronaldo showed composure and humility.
“Individual achievements or awards mean nothing to me,” Ronaldo said after the match. “I just want to win and conquer titles with Al Nassr. The most important thing is the winning spirit of the whole team. We believed and fought until the last minute,” Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo values the team more than the individual
Ronaldo’s statement shows a clear change in the way he views the value of football. Once famous for his desire to break every record from the title of “Top scorer” in Europe to the most goals in history, but at the age of 40, CR7 seems to have put the collective goal above all else.
Last season, Ronaldo scored 35 goals and won the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot. Before that, he also topped the scoring list with 25 goals. However, the Portuguese superstar insisted that he is no longer concerned about reaching the 1,000-goal mark in his career, a milestone that fans around the world are still waiting for.
“I never thought much about that number. I just wanted to play football, enjoy every moment and help the team win,” Ronaldo added.
Ronaldo’s enduring 40s
Al Nassr are currently maintaining an impressive form with a series of consecutive wins in the domestic league. Ronaldo is still the leader in all of the Saudi Arabian team’s victories, not only because of the number of goals he has scored, but also because of his fighting spirit and ability to inspire his teammates.
Despite being 40 years old, Ronaldo still plays persistently, maintaining incredible fitness and form. From a player once considered “addicted to records”, CR7 has now become a symbol of team spirit, of a legend who has everything but still continues to contribute.
“The winning spirit is more important than the numbers. I don’t need any more individual titles – I just need to conquer the top with Al Nassr,” Ronaldo affirmed.
