The US National Weather Service issued a tsunami warning for the area bordering Oregon state and San Francisco Bay, a total of at least 5.3 million people, minutes after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
US authorities have lifted the tsunami warning issued after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook many areas of Northern California (USA) on December 5.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake occurred about 100km offshore from Ferndale, Humboldt County, California at 10:44 a.m. the same day (local time).
The epicenter of the earthquake was determined to be at a depth of 0.6 km.
The US National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tsunami warning for the area bordering Oregon state to San Francisco Bay, a total of at least 5.3 million people, minutes after the earthquake.
With a yellow warning issued, the agency predicted the earthquake would cause minor damage. By noon that same day, the NWS lifted the warning and confirmed that no strong tsunami had been recorded.
Residents along the Northern California coast as well as in the state’s Central Valley reported feeling the tremor. About 10 small aftershocks followed in Northern California, but there were no reports of damage./.
