ARGENTINA 23-year-old man killed by jealous wife after he greeted old classmate he met on the street.
The incident occurred in the early morning of October 21 in González Catán, a city in Buenos Aires. The victim was Mariano Grinspun, 23 years old. The perpetrator was his wife, Natacha Palavecino, who is 9 years older than him.
Police determined that the couple was walking hand in hand when they came across a woman who greeted Mariano and asked how he was doing. The girl’s simple greeting caused Natacha Palavecino to become jealous and start using vulgar language.

Despite her husband’s explanation that she was a former classmate, the wife pulled out a knife hidden under her shorts and stabbed the woman several times. The victim tried to defend herself with a stick and was fortunately stopped by a passerby.
The female victim suffered injuries to her armpit, forearm and left hand, while Mariano was not so lucky. After her husband’s friend ran away, Natacha returned to take out her anger on her husband and stabbed him fatally in the chest, causing his death.
When police arrived at the scene, Natacha claimed her husband had been attacked by a stranger, but security cameras exposed her lie. According to the report, the couple argued for several minutes and when Mariano fell and could not get up, Natacha continued to punch him.
Natacha was remanded in custody on charges of murder , with the aggravating circumstance of killing her husband. The victim’s parents demanded a severe punishment for their daughter-in-law, describing her as an aggressive person who “always carried a knife in her body”.
On October 29, in the first hearing, Natacha denied the charges.
Argentina does not impose the death penalty, and life imprisonment is the most severe penalty for murder.

Police said Natacha had a “violent past.” In 2021, she was sentenced to a year in prison for stabbing Mariano in the chest. He also called the police several times to report that his wife had beaten him and threatened to cause him harm.
Last July, a court issued a restraining order forcing Natacha to stay away from her husband. But when the restraining order expired, Mariano relented and decided to give their relationship another chance, and he lost his life as a result.
