ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot software, has encountered a global problem that has prevented users from accessing and using it. Software company OpenAI has given an explanation for this problem.

According to Dan Tri reporters , ChatGPT encountered problems starting from the night of December 11 (Vietnam time). The error occurred globally, with both users of the free version of ChatGPT, as well as ChatGPT Plus, the paid professional version.

Initially, users had difficulty accessing the ChatGPT website, and then the site went down completely, displaying only the message: “ChatGPT is currently unavailable. Status: Known – We have identified the issue and are working to fix it.”

Notably, the issue wasn’t limited to ChatGPT, but another OpenAI service, Sora, an AI tool that generates videos from descriptive text, was also affected and inaccessible.

OpenAI announced the error on social media, saying that they had identified the problem and were working to fix it. The problem originated from OpenAI’s application programming interfaces (APIs).

“We received a bug report about the API. We have identified the issue and are deploying a fix as quickly as possible to restore the service to normal. We apologize for this downtime,” OpenAI representative shared on social media.

Many users “cried out” when ChatGPT crashed. Many netizens said that ChatGPT had become a powerful assistant that helped them look up information faster , so now that ChatGPT stopped working, it has greatly affected their work.

“I have long since stopped searching for information on Google, and rely on ChatGPT to answer and search for everything. Now that ChatGPT is no longer around, I feel like I am missing a trusted helper,” a user shared on social network X.

At the time of writing, ChatGPT is still inaccessible.

Notably, this is not the first time ChatGPT has encountered serious problems on a global scale. In early June, ChatGPT also “crashed” globally, making users unable to access it. This problem lasted for more than 3 days before being resolved.

OpenAI did not provide a reason for the incident, which occurred in early June.
