Shakira looked better than ever as she accepted the award
Shakira, 46, looked better than ever as she posed in a tiny black mini dress, showcasing her hourglass curves at the Billboard Latin Women in Music Event.
The singer’s dress featured a triangular cut-out at the top of the left thigh, and was worn with a pair of high black heels.
She wore her signature dark tresses in a soft wave, before taking to the stage to accept her honorary award.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer was honored as the Woman of the Year at the star-studded soiree, celebrating the success of Latinas in music.
During her speech, the singer appeared to take a swipe at her ex Gerard Pique, who she split with last year after rumours circulated of the footballers infedility.
Shakira was sure to show off her phenomenal figure
She said: “It doesn’t matter so much if someone is faithful or not; what really matters is if you continue to be faithful to yourself.
“There comes a time in every woman’s life when she no longer depends on someone to love or accept herself as she is.
“The search for the other is replaced by the search for oneself when the desire to be perfect is replaced by the desire to be authentic.
“Women are much stronger than we think.
Shakira was honoured at the ceremony
“We are braver than we think we are. I think we are also more independent than we were taught to be.”
Shakira concluded her speech by explaining how music helped her get through the difficult times in her life.
She continued: “When I felt most lost, it was music that put me on the path back to myself.”
Gerard was hit with cheating rumours after his surprising split from Shakira and is now in a new relationship with model Clara Chia.
Shakira and Gerard came to an end after a 12-year relationship, and the 36-year-old former footballer recently revealed he has listened to her so-called ‘diss track’ that appears to mock him and his new 23-year-old girlfriend.

Shakira and Gerard Pique had two children together
The singer released the tune Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 which she has said was a cathartic way of expelling her pain over their split.
Gerard said in an interview with Barcelona-based radio station RAC1: “Yes, obviously (I’ve listened to it). I don’t want to talk about it – I don’t think I should talk about it.
“We have a responsibility, those of us who are parents must protect our children. Everyone makes their own decisions. I don’t feel like talking anymore.
“I just want my children to be well… I’ve always had a close relationship with my children.”
The Latin Women in Music gala aired on Telemundo on Sunday, May 7.
