The incident took place while Shakira was lying in water surrounded by rocks and debris. Although the location of the shoot remains undisclosed, it seems the natural setting attracted some curious wildlife. Despite the initial shriek, Shakira found the humor in the situation and shared the amusing video with her fans on social media, playfully commenting, “Things that happen even to mermaids.”

The rat encounter wasn’t the only eventful moment during the “Copa Vacía” video shoot. Shakira encountered an unexpected wardrobe malfunction when the fish tank in which she was filming broke, causing flooding on the set. Trapped in her mermaid tail, Shakira had to be rescued by a crane, leading to a memorable anecdote for the singer.
