Pelicans Coach’s Bold Claim about Steph Curry before Match against Warriors in NBA Playoffs

Alvin Gentry, coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, has acknowledged that his team had prepared for the possibility that Golden State Warriors might not have Steph Curry available.

Stephen Curry will not be playing in Game 1 against the New Orleans Pelicans as they face the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals this morning at 3:30 am. Curry has been ruled out of Golden State’s lineup as he has not fully recovered in time after spraining his knee last month. However, he has stepped up his fitness by doing five-on-five practices before the game. While the two-time MVP winner is expected to play a part in some of the series, Gentry claims that his team’s game plan won’t be disrupted by whether or not Curry features.

Alvin Gentry has revealed that they have a game plan without Steph Curry. They practiced both ways and it will be Plan B or whatever one may call it. “Obviously we played them without Steph [Curry] a few weeks ago,” Gentry said. “So we have a general idea of how we were going to try and play him. We practiced the whole week with the understanding Steph was probably going to play and he will play at some point. It’s not like he’s going to miss the entire series.” The Warriors advanced to the semi-finals after a 4-1 victory in the first round of the playoffs against San Antonio Spurs.
