Actress Nicole Kidman says the famous photo of her is just a movie image, not a ‘celebration scene of her divorce from Tom Cruise’ as rumored, but fans think she’s lying.

Nicole Kidman surprised everyone when she shared in an interview with GQ earlier this week the truth about the iconic photo taken in 2001. While the media has long assumed that the photo was taken as Nicole left her lawyer’s office when her divorce from Tom Cruise was finalized, the actress explained that it was from a movie, not real life.

However, “internet detectives” did some digging and many fans said they couldn’t find Nicole Kidman wearing the outfit in any movie. “Okay, I just did some digging on this since she didn’t name a movie. I can safely conclude that she’s lying and this is indeed a paparazzi photo taken after her divorce,” one fan wrote on X.

Others commented: “I searched for evidence. This image is not in any movie”, “There was no role of her during that time period with such a dress! That’s a lie!”, “I don’t remember any movie where she went bare-faced and didn’t wear a wig. What movie required her to wear sneakers with that outfit?”, “I searched but gave up because I didn’t see any role with such a dress style”…

Nicole Kidman explained to GQ magazine that the image was a movie scene but fans could not find any evidence.

Some fans have come to Nicole Kidman’s defense, saying the scene may have been cut from a movie she starred in. Nicole Kidman has yet to respond to the controversy. In the interview, she did not specify which movie the scene was from.

In the photo that has been circulating for years, the Australian star is wearing a pink top, green capri pants and sneakers. She has a bare face and her hair is in natural curls. Nicole has her arms outstretched, her face tilted to the sky, her eyes closed and she screams in celebration.
