Mbappe faltered, and despite leading by two goals, PSG gave up an incredible amount of points

PSG, playing at home, dominated Brest away from home in the first half, winning 7 times and scoring 4 goals on target while dominating 54% of the ball. The home team finally broke through in the 38th minute with a superb combination, capping over 30 minutes of intense pressure.

Bradley Barcola was able to access the left sideline thanks to Vitinha’s ball release from Kylian Mbappe. In order to allow Marco Asensio to escape and finish with his left foot at a diagonal angle, the 21-year-old striker supported his chest and pressured the ball, defeating goalkeeper Marco Bizot.

A similar attack on the left wing saw Barcola pass a cross for Asensio to finish in the corner in the forty-fiveth minute, but goalkeeper Marco Bizot was still able to block it.

But shortly after, midfielder Kolo Muani got into a confrontation with the visiting team’s defense and kicked into an empty net, giving PSG a two-goal lead at the break.

But for some reason, things went the other way in the second half as Brest decided to attack and looked sharp in the closing moments. Mahdi Camara’s close-range effort struck Danilo Pereira’s foot in the 55th minute and found its way into the net.

The score was settled at 2-2 in the 80th minute when Martin Satriano crossed the ball from the left side for Mathias Pereira Lage to cut in and heel to the near corner and beat goalie Donnarumma.

In the 90+4 minutes of injury time, Barcola lost his cool and chased and kicked Billal Brahimi in the leg, causing PSG to finish the game with ten men. The home striker was immediately given a second yellow card by referee Clement Turpin.

Despite losing the match at home, PSG is still ahead of Nice by six points at the top of the Ligue 1 standings with 44 points. Mbappe and his colleagues will visit Strasbourg on February 2.
