Man United Successfully Secures Bright Gem for the Future of Theatre of Dreams
Through his personal social media account, midfielder Shea Lacey has confirmed that he has agreed to sign his first professional contract with Manchester United.
Lacey is currently one of the most prominent players at the Manchester United academy, known for his dribbling skills and sharp tactical awareness. The 2007-born player has drawn comparisons to midfielder Phil Foden of Manchester City, the club’s fierce cross-town rival.
Lacey’s name gained more recognition since September last year when the English prodigy scored two goals and provided two assists in Manchester United U18’s 5-1 victory over Newcastle United U18.
Additionally, Lacey has made three appearances in the UEFA Youth League (the Champions League for U19s in Europe) and contributed with one assist.
With his impressive performances recently, Lacey has been rewarded by the Old Trafford club with his first professional contract just after turning 17 last Sunday.
“This is a proud achievement for me and my family to be given my first professional contract by Manchester United,” Lacey wrote on X.
Although Lacey has not had the opportunity to debut for the Manchester United first team yet, if he maintains his form in the youth ranks, the English star will soon catch the eye of manager Erik ten Hag.
Since agreeing to lead the Red Devils in 2022, the Dutch coach has brought talents like Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Willy Kambwala, and Omari Forson into the spotlight.
