In the midst of fresh rumors of a transfer to Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has remained evasive on the future of star attacker Kylian Mbappe.
With just six months remaining on his PSG contract, Mbappe became eligible for negotiations over a pre-contract agreement. Reports in France have identified the Premier League leaders as key figures in Mbappe’s future.
When the 25-year-old Frenchman announced in the summer that he would not exercise his option to extend his contract past this June, Les Parisiens were incensed.
Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Saudi Arabian clubs are among the teams on high alert as a result.
While there is speculation of an extension to stay in Paris, Madrid is expected to provide Mbappe with a contract offer that expires in the middle of the month.
In response to a question on how he would handle Mbappe during the transfer window, head coach Luis Enrique said, “As I always have done up to this point.”
“It’s not a problem that depends on me,” he continued. It is not my place to answer this query.”
To cap off their winter vacation before what may turn out to be a lengthy month of conjecture regarding Mbappe’s future, PSG takes on Toulouse in the Trophee des Champions, the French equivalent of the Community Shield, on Wednesday night.
