Or at least, you hadn’t seen him since his last WWE appearance in April 2020. That changed Sunday night, when 16-time WWE champion John Cena, whose catchphrase as a wrestler was “you can’t see me,” made a surprise return to the sport in Fort Worth, Texas. Cena’s theme song filled the arena seconds before he made his appearance, and the crowd and Twitter were clearly excited.

Cena, who owns a mansion in the private Land O’Lakes community of Nature’s Reserve, is in the midst of what looks to be a yearlong tour in the spotlight. Cena has taken to acting in recent years, and plays Dominic Toretto’s brother in the recent movie F9: The Fast Saga and stars in The Suicide Squad, which is due later this year.

And he will once again be one of the faces of the WWE. He has yet to wrestle during his return, but that didn’t suppress any of the crowd’s affection Sunday. Cena had some special words for those in attendance after the pay-per-view event went off the air and joked that he enjoys the applause instead of the usual boos that follow his entrance.

He made his grand appearance and had a staredown with WWE Universal Championship winner Roman Reigns, who lives in Brandon. The two have had a rivalry for years now, and the WWE world is pumped for their eventual match.

Cena went into some detail about his decision to return, but said to come to WWE’s Monday Night RAW in Dallas, Texas, to get answers to all of the questions.

Fellow professional wrestlers and fans continued to express their excitement.
