Following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, Messi joined Inter Miami, where he will work alongside David Beckham, the franchise’s owner. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner made his League Cup debut in style, striking a signature free kick to secure a last-minute victory over Cruz Azul.
His first start came just a few days later, when he scored a first-half brace in an emphatic 4-0 win over Atlanta United. Messi and Beckham, the franchise’s co-owner, were later seen out celebrating.
Messi was also photographed leaving the hotspot with Antonela, who looked stunning in a pink minidress.

They dined at the opulent Miami eatery Gekko. They were joined by new signing Sergio Busquets, his wife Elena Galera, and Jorge Mas, another co-owner.
Messi and Beckham dined with their spouses Antonela and Victoria at the Japanese-inspired steakhouse, which is famous among local celebrities. Gekko specialised in East Asian cuisine and is best recognised for its extensive selection of steaks.
Most notably, one 42oz piece titled ‘A5 Bone in Ribeye, Kagoshima, Mizusako’ is placed on the menu at a staggering $1200 (£940). When you consider various sides, the top-of-the-line item might cost up to £1,000.
The restaurant, based on 8 SE 8th Street in Miami, also offers an extensive range of sushi, cocktails and sharing platters. Inside, it features eye-catching, contemporary decor with Japanese inspiration as the backdrop for its customers.
Ahead of his MLS switch, Messi revealed the lifestyle out in The Sunshine State was a key factor in choosing Inter Miami. “After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barça, it was time to go to the United States League to live football differently,” he said.
“I want to enjoy more the day to day. Obviously with the same responsibility and desire to want to win and to always do things well. But more calmly.” And he has certainly been enjoying himself after dining in one of the city’s top restaurants.
Following Messi’s debut last Friday, a slew of A-listers attended the game at DMV PNK Stadium before heading out to the Miami restaurant. Kim Kardashian, a reality personality, and NBA free agent Tristan Thompson were among those that attended Gekko.
The Japanese-inspired steakhouse opened last summer, with Miami’s David Beckham and Spice Girls’ wife Victoria in attendance. David Grutman, a hospitality tycoon, and Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny jointly own Gekko.
