On July 9, Bridger Walker, a boy living in Cheyenne, Wyoming, was seriously injured after being bitten by a dog. According to Newsweek , Bridger saw the ferocious dog threatening to attack his sister, so he intentionally stood in front of her so that the dog could only bite him. The boy later had to get 90 stitches on his face.
Despite being injured, Bridger successfully saved his sister and led her away from danger. When asked why he did so, he said: “If anyone had to die, I thought it would be me.” Bridger was taken to the emergency room, treated for his injuries, and is now recovering at home.
Nicole Walker, the boy’s aunt, posted a photo of the two children on Instagram and shared the story. To date, the post has received more than 200,000 likes and over 11,000 comments.

Nicole visited her nephew a few days later and said Bridger was in good spirits. She wrote on Instagram: “I just stopped by Bridger’s house to check on him. His injuries are much better. He’s so happy and still has the same sweet personality. He can’t smile much but he still giggles when I read some of the comments.”
Nicole also said she is not angry with the dog or its owner. “I also want to mention here that the dog owners are really wonderful people. They were kind to Bridger and his family. We do not feel any resentment towards them at all. And if anything has changed between us, it is that our families have gotten better after this incident.”
Nicole also thanked netizens for their support and concern for Bridger. “Everyone’s kindness means a lot to us,” Nicole added.
