“Granit Xhaka Leaves Arsenal with Regrets”
In a day where Granit Xhaka shone and Bayer Leverkusen clinched the Bundesliga title, Arsenal suffered a heavy blow in their Premier League title ambitions.
Despite an unbeaten run of 11 matches, including 10 wins in the Premier League since the beginning of 2024, Arsenal’s form seemed irrelevant as they put up a dismal performance against Aston Villa.
Ultimately, Arsenal succumbed to a 0-2 defeat, losing their advantage in the Premier League race. Conversely, Aston Villa now has a significant opportunity to secure a Champions League spot.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal player Granit Xhaka soared high with Bayer Leverkusen. He scored a goal as Bayer Leverkusen secured their first-ever Bundesliga title with a resounding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen.
Xhaka’s arrival at Leverkusen last summer coincided with a stellar season for the club. At this point, Leverkusen had not tasted defeat in any competition.
Xhaka clinched his first major title at the top level of European football this season.
Throughout Leverkusen’s unbeaten run, the 31-year-old midfielder played a crucial role. Prior to joining Leverkusen, Xhaka was with Arsenal from 2016 to 2023.
There were times when Xhaka was considered a burden at Arsenal, with his volatile temperament and inconsistent form. However, last season, he was a mainstay in the team and played consistently well, contributing significantly to Arsenal’s near Premier League title. Arsenal fans have reasons to regret Xhaka’s departure. If he had stayed, the partnership between Xhaka and Declan Rice would have been very promising.
