The first trailer for and ‘s movie Hidden Strike has dropped and it looks nothing short of epic.
The is set ‘near in the future’ and there’s a huge battle over oil.
The teaser shows a landscape similar to : Fury Road as people try their best to get their hands on the remaining drops of oil.
While there are explosions, gunfights, fight sequences and a lot of action, there also seems to be a bit of comedy mixed into the movie. Cena and Chan give off a chemistry not too dissimilar to the Rush Hour franchise that featured Jackie and Chris Tucker.
The official synopsis for the film is listed as: “Two ex-special forces soldiers must escort a group of civilians along Baghdad’s ‘Highway of Death’ to the safety of the Green Zone.”
The movie has been in the works for years and has faced several delays.
Even though the trailer states the film is called Hidden Strike, IMDb says it’s called Situation Normal: All F**ked Up.
When Cena and Chan came together in 2018 to talk about the movie, it was called Project X.
The Hollywood Reporter says Hidden Strike is a ‘Hong Kong–China co-production led by Chan is entirely Chinese funded’. The outlet said the entire movie will be filmed in China and will use local crews.
Scott Waugh, the man behind Need for Speed and The Expendables 4, has been recruited to direct the project.
He told the Shanghai International Film Festival back in 2018: “The highlight of this movie is really simple: we have one of the greatest legends of action working with a talented newcomer in the action genre. “It’s possibly one of the greatest pairings… in terms of how the movie is stylized, it will hopefully be another level — our action will be extremely exciting.”
Jackie Chan added: “In the film, both characters start off as quite normal guys, both retired military and not superheroes.
“At first, I think we’re opponents — I think he’s the bad guy and he thinks I’m the bad guy. But then we realize that we’re on the same side and go after the real enemy.” Cena gave his co-star all the praise in the world during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and said Chan’s presence on set is ‘undeniable’ and his energy ‘doesn’t stop’.
“It’s going to be so special. Not only will we make a good movie, I’m going to learn so much,” he said.
