Elon Musk and his team of engineers at xAI have just officially launched Grok 3, the latest artificial intelligence (AI) model with the ambition of being “the smartest on Earth”. During the launch livestream on X (formerly Twitter), Musk did not hesitate to affirm that Grok 3 outperformed competitors such as Gemini 2 Pro, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT-4o and DeepSeek V3 in standard tests of mathematics, science and programming.
What makes Grok 3 special is not only its superior performance but also its unique training method. Musk revealed that xAI used a new technique that significantly reduces training time and costs, while minimizing “hallucination” – when the AI produces false or unreal information.
Unlike DeepSeek R1 or ChatGPT o3-mini, Grok 3 will not show its reasoning process, a measure that Musk said will prevent competitors from copying it.
Similar to ChatGPT, Grok 3 is also equipped with the Deep Search feature, using a team of “AI agents” to not only support experts in the technology field but also answer all user questions. The process of Deep Search is described as follows:
- Get Question: User asks Grok 3 question.
- Research planning: Grok 3 automatically analyzes the question, identifies aspects to investigate, and plans the research.
- Search and analyze: Grok 3 performs massive web searches, reading and analyzing hundreds of different sources.
- Synthesize and respond: Grok 3 synthesizes information, provides concise, clear answers, and includes source citations for users to verify.
According to the xAI engineering team, Deep Search can save users a significant amount of research time. A problem that might have previously taken hours to figure out can now be solved in just a few minutes with the help of Grok 3.
Grok 3 will also support voice communication, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Musk also revealed an interesting piece of information: Grok will be integrated into rockets within the next two years. Grok 3 will be available to X Premium+ users, including new features like Deep Search, Reasoning, and more queries. Users just need to update the X app to start using it.
In addition, xAI will also offer a SuperGrok package on Grok.com, which includes Grok 3, unlocks Deep Search, Think, early access to new features, and higher usage limits.
In short, Grok 3 promises to be a huge step forward in AI, not only in terms of performance but also in how we interact with and use AI. With deep search, logical reasoning, voice communication, and especially a unique training method, Grok 3 will likely change the way we search for information, learn, and solve problems.
