NEW YORK (AP) — ABC has suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show indefinitely following comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s killing. The network’s decision Wednesday came Nexstar announced its ABC affiliates would pre-empt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely over his comments.
“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” said Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division. During his monologue on Monday, Kimmel said: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.

“In between the finger pointing, there was, uh, grieving — on Friday, the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level you can see how hard the president is taking this,” Kimmel said, before cutting to a clip where Trump responded to reporters asking about how he was doing by pointing to construction at the White House.

A message sent to a spokesperson for Kimmel was not immediately returned.
This shocking news from BBC has caused controversy in the American media and public opinion. Accordingly, after Jimmy Kimmel made sarcastic statements targeting the Republican Party and made provocative comments regarding the death of Charlie Kirk, the program Jimmy Kimmel Live! – which is ABC’s “trump card” – was banned permanently. But what was even more shocking was the direct order from former President Donald Trump: within 10 days, Jimmy Kimmel must leave the United States, or he will be immediately detained.

This move immediately sparked a wave of criticism. Observers said that this was an act of dictatorship, directly threatening freedom of speech – a core value that America has always been proud of. Some Trump supporters said that Kimmel had “crossed the line”, turning humor into insult, and he had to pay the price.

Meanwhile, millions of viewers and press freedom advocates are calling for the protection of Jimmy Kimmel, considering this the biggest test for American democracy at the present time. Everyone is waiting to see in the next 10 days, Kimmel will choose to leave in bitterness or face the risk of being detained in his own country.
