Has the treasure gone out of the country?
Giving information in its report, news agency ANI said that Ahmadullah Wasik, deputy head of the Cultural Commission of the Cabinet, said that the concerned departments have been entrusted with the task of finding and investigating the Bactrian treasure. According to Tolo News, Wasik said, ‘At present, the investigation of the whole matter is going on and efforts are being made to know what is the truth. If this treasure has been sent to bar from Afghanistan then it is treason against the country.
Government will take serious action
The official said the Afghan government would take serious action if this and other antiquities were taken out of the country. According to National Geographic, the Bactrian treasure includes thousands of gold pieces from around the world from ancient times. These date from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD and were found within the tombs.
20,000 items of gold included in the treasury
According to the report, it included more than 20,000 items, such as gold rings, coins, weapons, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and crowns. Apart from gold, many of these things were made from precious stones like Turquoise, Carnelian and Lapis Lazuli. According to National Geographic, experts believe that the tombs belonged to six wealthy Asian nomads, five women and one man, from whom the treasure was discovered.
