Angelina Jolie’s lawyer said the actress and Brad Pitt signed divorce papers on December 30, ending a legal battle that has lasted since 2016.
Divorce lawyer James Simon told the Daily Mail that Angelina Jolie “feels relieved that this is over.” “To be honest, Angelina is exhausted,” James shared on December 31.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and her children left all assets they had shared with Mr. Pitt. Since then, she has focused on finding peace and healing for her family,” the lawyer added.

According to People , Angelina and Brad had requested a jury trial for their divorce, which was expected to last 10 to 15 days. However, they later agreed to participate in mediation without going to court.
A source close to Jolie said: “She doesn’t speak ill of Brad Pitt in public or in private. She has tried her best to make a brighter life after a dark time.”
Brad Pitt’s representative has declined to comment on the matter.
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, 2016, shortly after the family’s private flight from France to the US – where Angelina accused Brad of abusing her and their six children. Brad Pitt was investigated by the FBI for domestic violence, but authorities later declared there was insufficient evidence and dropped the case.
In 2019, the former couple was granted a divorce and became legally single. However, the divorce is not final because the two are fighting over child custody. Currently, most of their children are adults, except for twins Knox and Vivienne, 16 years old.

While Mr. and Mrs. Smith have settled their divorce, they are still involved in another lawsuit involving the Miraval estate and winery in France. Brad is suing Angelina for selling her stake in the winery to the Russian billionaire’s Stoli Group without his consent.
