Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez are preparing for a wedding that is expected to be a sports-entertainment event that attracts global attention. According to Jornal da Madeira, they plan to hold their wedding ceremony in the summer of 2026 on the island of Madeira – the 40-year-old superstar’s homeland.

According to Jornal da Madeira, Ronaldo and Georgina’s wedding will be held in a Catholic ceremony at Funchal Cathedral, while the reception will take place at a luxury hotel nearby. This location has a very special meaning for Ronaldo: it is only about 2 km from the hospital where he was born and less than 5 km from the Nacional da Madeira academy where CR7 played as a teenager.

The wedding will take place after the 2026 World Cup, which Ronaldo hopes will end his international career with Portugal. Despite being one of the world’s most famous couples, Ronaldo said Georgina would not like a lavish wedding. “She hates big parties. She likes privacy and I respect that,” he said.

Ronaldo and Georgina met in 2016 when she was working as a saleswoman at Gucci in Madrid. Initially, the relationship was kept secret, but later that year they appeared publicly together. Attached to Ronaldo, Georgina – born in 1994, quickly became famous from an unknown saleswoman. Last August, after more than nine years together, Ronaldo proposed to Georgina. Ronaldo revealed to MC Piers Morgan that the proposal was not elaborately prepared: “It was about 1am, my daughters were asleep. A friend gave me a £1.5 million ring to give to Gio. Just as I was giving the ring to her, my two children walked in and said: ‘Daddy is going to propose to mum, right?’ That’s when I knew it was the right moment,” Ronaldo said. The 40-year-old football superstar admitted that he did not get down on one knee because he was unprepared, but he made an emotional confession: “I’m not the romantic type who brings flowers every week, but I have my own way. I knew she was the woman of my life.”

Ronaldo currently has five children, baby Cristiano Jr (2010) and twins Eva and Mateo (2017) born through surrogacy. In addition, he has two daughters with Georgina: Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda. In 2022, they faced a heartbreaking loss when the twin boy Angel died shortly after birth. Ronaldo admitted that this incident helped him and Georgina to bond and understand each other more, wanting to make up for each other more.

He and the club are preparing for the match against FC Istiklol Dushanbe in the fifth round of the AFC Cup group stage on November 26. Despite being 40 years old, Ronaldo has been in impressive form for Al Nassr, with 11 goals in 12 games this season, including a beautiful “bicycle kick”. In total, he has scored 104 goals in 117 games since joining the club in January 2023.
