Miriam Rodríguez: A Tragic Mexican Mother’s Quest for Justice

Throughout her journey, Miriam tracked down her daughter’s kidnappers. She disguised herself as a prostitute and even as a government employee to gather information about the suspects. She spent hours watching and taking notes to understand their movements.

Gradually, she tracked down each of the men involved in her daughter’s kidnapping and murder. She brought them to court or, in some cases, saw them dealt with by the gangs themselves. Of the 10 people involved, they were either caught and imprisoned, or killed by the underground. Incredibly, all of them paid the price for their actions, and all of them were thanks to Miriam Rodríguez.

A Hero’s Tragic End

Miriam’s story quickly captured the attention of the public and the media. She became a symbol of strength and courage, especially for other families who had lost loved ones in Mexico. However, her fight did not end peacefully.

In 2017, on Mother’s Day, Miriam was shot dead by gunmen in front of her home. Her death left a huge void in the hearts of her loved ones, and highlighted the haunting violence and incompetence of the Mexican legal system.
