Cristiano Ronaldo is set to embark on a new chapter in his life as he chooses a traditional chapel in his hometown of Madeira to marry his longtime girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez.

Funchal Cathedral was inaugurated in 1514.

According to Jornal da Madeira , superstar Al Nassr will hold his wedding ceremony in the summer, after the 2026 World Cup ends. The chosen location is the oldest cathedral in Ronaldo’s hometown, Funchal, inaugurated in 1514. With a roof made of Madeira cedar with intricate carvings, the building is considered the religious heart of the city.

The wedding ceremony had special significance for the Portugal captain as the church is located about 3km from the hospital where he was born. Ronaldo’s boyhood club, Nacional da Madeira, is also nearby. Ronaldo played for two years at Nacional before joining Sporting Lisbon in 1997 at the age of 12.

Ronaldo and Georgina met in 2016 when she was working at a Gucci store in Spain. The couple now have two children together, Alana, 7, and Bella, 3, and Ronaldo’s three children through surrogacy: Cristiano Jr, 15, and twins Mateo and Eva Maria, 8.

Speaking to the press, Ronaldo revealed that his children were the driving force behind his decision to propose to Georgina. Meanwhile, Georgina continues to build her own career as a businesswoman, model and social media influencer.
