In a conversation with Piers Morgan on the YouTube channel Piers Morgan Uncensored, the Portuguese superstar said it was his two young daughters who convinced him to “finalize” the proposal with a million-dollar diamond ring for Georgina. 

 “Because the girls said: Dad, marry Mom!” – Ronaldo first revealed the reason for proposing to Georgina  

“Georgina always dreamed of having a beautiful diamond ring. I found one that she really liked. Then the two girls came in and said, ‘Daddy, will you give it to mommy and marry her?’ And I knew – it was the right time. I said, ‘Okay, for the kids, now’s the time.’

When asked why he waited until this year to propose, the Portuguese superstar frankly said: “Everything comes at the right time. I want to marry her not only because she is the mother of my children, but because she is the woman I love the most. She is the love of my life.” 

Ronaldo and Georgina met in 2016 when she worked at the Gucci store in Madrid. Since then, she has accompanied him in every stage – from his career to his personal life. 

“She takes care of me, takes care of the family, takes care of the house. She has everything I love – and most importantly, she understands me,” CR7 shared. 

Wedding ceremony time

Although he has not set a wedding date, Ronaldo revealed that he wants to wait until after the World Cup next summer (taking place in the US, Mexico and Canada) to hold the wedding. 

“She doesn’t like lavish parties, so our wedding will be simple,” he said. At 40, Ronaldo affirmed: “Getting married doesn’t change anything – it’s just a beautiful chapter in my life.”

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez’s story began in 2016 – when the 22-year-old Spaniard was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid, and he was the biggest superstar on the planet. After just one look, Ronaldo fell in love and tried to meet Georgina again at a fashion event a few days later.
