Ahead of the away match at Brentford in round 7 of the Premier League, coach Pep Guardiola gave important updates on Man City’s squad situation.
The Blues of Manchester just experienced a disappointing 2-2 draw against Monaco in the Champions League, where they twice took the lead but let their opponents equalize from the penalty spot late in the match.

One of Guardiola’s biggest concerns is the fitness of key midfielder Rodri. The Spaniard played 60 minutes against Monaco and showed signs of recovery from a knee injury. Pep admits he cannot yet play Rodri three games a week, but he is likely to feature against Brentford. “Everything is going well, Rodri is fit to play this weekend ,” said Pep.
However, Man City will be without four other important names . Defender Abdukodir Khusanov, who has been playing on the right wing, suffered an injury of unknown severity after the draw with Arsenal and will only be able to return after the international break.

Meanwhile, Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush suffered a knee injury while on international duty, leaving the field after just nine minutes and is expected to return against Everton. Young star Rayan Cherki has also been unable to participate despite returning to training, as he needs more time to regain his fitness and Pep Guardiola does not want to take any risks.

Meanwhile, £31m new signing Rayan Ait-Nouri is recovering from an ankle injury and is expected to return after the international break later this month.
Man City, despite not playing really well, are currently on a six-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. The match against Brentford will be an opportunity for Pep Guardiola’s team to extend this record, before making way for the international break. Although the force is affected, the return of Rodri will bring important balance in the midfield, helping City confidently aim for a victory to chase the leading group of the Premier League.
