Pamela, who David was married to from 1989 to 2006, was found dead in her L.A. home of an apparent suicide on March 5. She was 62.

David Hasselhoff has spoken out following the death of his ex-wife Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff.

Pamela was found dead at her Los Angeles home just after 10 p.m. local time on Wednesday, March 5, LAPD confirmed to PEOPLE. She was 62.

TMZ reported that she died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but her official cause of death has not yet been determined, per the L.A. medical examiner.

David, who was married to Pamela from 1989 to 2006 and shares daughters Taylor, 34, and Hayley, 32, with her, said in a statement to PEOPLE: “Our family is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Pamela Hasselhoff.”

“We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time but we kindly request privacy as we grieve and navigate through this challenging time,” he added.

Neither of her daughters has yet spoken out about her death, but Hayley reposted a photo from a fan account of her parents in 1996 at the grand opening of the Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios Hollywood to her Instagram Stories.

She added a “🤍” over the photo of her parents when they were still together.

David, 72, and Pamela wed in 1989 after meeting on the set of Knight Rider when she was a guest star. She went on to appear frequently in Baywatch as well, and they welcomed Taylor in 1990 and Hayley in 1992.

In 2006, they filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage. They were granted joint custody of their daughters — who were then 16 and 12 — and David said in a statement at the time, “My wife and I have been able to reach an agreement that we feel is in the best interest of our children, which affords them the opportunity to spend significant time with each of us.”

David went on to marry model Hayley Roberts in 2018.

In Pamela’s last Instagram post, shared on New Year’s Eve, she reflected on her “gratitude” for 2024, which brought her a “precious grandbaby.” Taylor welcomed her first daughter, London, in August, and Pamela wrote of her granddaughter, “Watching her grow and seeing her smile light up my world is truly the greatest blessing.”

She also shared her hopes for the year to come in the post’s caption. “Here’s to a year of making cherished memories, spreading joy, and embracing every precious moment!”
