Alexander Westwood, 24, actor of the hit Netflix series ‘Sex Education’, was sentenced to 15 years and six months in prison for 26 counts of sexual misconduct, including raping a teenage girl.

According to The Independent , during the hearing on February 25, Judge Neil Chawla said that Alexander Westwood used his fame and roles in films to “prey” on unsuspecting teenagers. “This was a campaign of sexual offences, spanning more than a decade with devastating consequences,” the judge said.

The judge said Alexander Westwood had shown no remorse and did not realise the impact his offending had had on his victims. He added: “The jury rejected his victim-blaming. He was a serial sex offender and it became part of his lifestyle.”

The BBC described Alexander Westwood as smirking as details of his crimes were read out at Wolverhampton Crown Court. The actor denies charges of “predatory and deviant” behaviour towards five people, four of whom were minors when he was abused.

The courtroom erupted in applause as the star’s sentence of more than 15 years in prison was announced on Tuesday.

Alexander was convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl and sexually abusing another teenager who came to study acting between 2020 and 2021. Victims said Alexander would discuss sex scenes and nudity in films before coaxing them to strip and abuse or assault them. The actor was also convicted of assaulting a child between 2010 and 2018. According to the indictment, the star’s depraved crimes began when he was just over 10 years old.

Alexander Westwood appeared in 17 episodes of Sex Education – a popular British series about sex for teenagers that aired on Netflix from 2019 to 2023. He also starred in the series Doctors and participated in the films Outlawed , Father Brown and the children’s TV show Sensations .
