LEONARDO DICAPRIO IS ‘HABITED’ BY MIAMAI AGAINST THE FOREST FIRE DISASTER
Leonardo DiCaprio’s decision to use a private jet to escape the wildfires raging in Los Angeles has sparked a backlash. Many have criticized him for being ‘hypocritical’ and ‘happy’.
The actor is an environmental activist. He is often hailed as a ‘climate warrior’ for his efforts to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. As the founder of his eponymous foundation in 1998, Leo has raised more than $80 million for grants focused on climate change mitigation and reforestation.
However, this action has caused all of the actor’s 27 years of environmental efforts to go up in smoke. According to environmental impact analysis, jet aircraft emit 37 times more carbon than commercial aircraft.
Some question the gap between advocacy and actual action. “How can you preach about saving the planet while flying on a private jet to escape
forest fires?” one netizen commented.
Others defended the actor, arguing that in times of crisis, survival often takes precedence. “No one should be expected to wait in a life-threatening situation just to avoid public criticism,” one supporter wrote.
This is not the first time Leonardo DiCaprio has been criticized for using a private jet. The actor has previously attended climate summits but traveled by private plane, sparking similar debates.
