MMA fighter Guilherme Vasconcelos, one-time boyfriend of singer Demi Lovato, died earlier this week.
Guilherme Vasconcelos’s uncle and godfather in Brazil posted sad news on Facebook on October 15. “So sad to say goodbye to you, Guilherme Vasconcelos, so far away from us in America,” the announcement was written in Portuguese.
The godfather said the whole family was saddened by the passing of Guilherme Vasconcelos. He did not reveal the cause of death but hinted that his career as a fighter played a part: “Guilherme Bomba, Brazilian champion – you followed your dream of becoming an MMA fighter in America, but we didn’t I can’t imagine that this has brought me to a journey of no return, to a place where we are no longer there.”
According to his godfather, Guilherme Vasconcelos plans to return to Brazil to visit relatives this Christmas. Guilherme Vasconcelos’ mother also confirmed the sad news on her personal page and expressed her sadness at losing her beloved son.
Guilherme Vasconcelos, who goes by the stage name Bomba, has participated in 16 MMA tournaments and appeared in season three of the reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. He recently participated in the Jiu Jitsu World League. Bomba regularly posts about his matches and intense training. His most recent gym video was posted last Thursday. At the end of August, Bomba confided to fans that he could not complete the jiu-jitsu tournament in Las Vegas because of a lower back injury.
The boxer once dated pop star Demi Lovato from 2016 to 2017, after the singer broke up with actor Wilmer Valderrama. The pair were spotted hanging out together many times and announced their relationship on Instagram. They broke up in May 2017.
Demi Lovato is currently engaged to musician Jutes. She has not responded to her ex-boyfriend’s sudden departure.
