Diddy added two celebrity attorneys to his personal legal team and filed an appeal in a third attempt to be released on bail pending trial.
According to TMZ , Diddy is once again trying to take the necessary legal steps to get out of jail after 2 weeks of being arrested. The rapper is building a powerful legal team to defend himself.
New court documents show that attorneys for Diddy (Sean “Diddy” Combs) have filed an appeal of the most recent order denying the rap mogul bail. The appeal is the 54-year-old rapper’s third attempt to gain the right to live in his own home instead of being held in jail while he awaits trial.
Sources close to Diddy say the rapper has added two more attorneys to his team working on the high-profile criminal case, including Anthony Ricco and Alexandra Shapiro.
“Anthony is known as one of the best trial lawyers in America and Alexandra is known as one of the best appellate lawyers practicing today,” TMZ commented .
Diddy’s legal team is represented by attorney Marc Agnifilo. According to Newsweek , attorney Marc received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1990. He received the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.
Prior to representing Diddy, Marc has defended a number of controversial cases, including representing Keith Raniere in the NXIVM sex slavery case ; and representing Roger Ng, a Goldman Sachs employee, in a bribery and corruption case involving a Malaysian sovereign wealth fund.
Photos of Diddy’s lavish birthday parties, nude parties, and banquet tables on women’s bodies were resurfaced after the rapper was arrested.
Diddy was arrested in Manhattan on September 16 and brought to court the following day. The 54-year-old rapper was charged with extortion, sex trafficking, and human trafficking for prostitution. The arrest came six months after federal agents raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
The rapper has denied multiple charges in the case and several other civil lawsuits and has pleaded not guilty. Attorney Marc Agnifilo has said the singer and music producer is innocent.
Diddy was denied bail despite his lawyer offering $50 million bail and a promise to not have female visitors (other than family members) if the court allowed the rapper to stay at his Miami home while awaiting trial. The request was denied, with the artist being deemed a danger.
